Message from Joseph (Yossi) Reich, CPA, TaxRevo Manager
Even though we are smack in the middle of tax season, don’t feel you need to rush to file your taxes by April 18. Rather, it is more important to ensure you have all your documents in order and all questions answered so TaxRevo can prepare an accurate filing for you.
So often we see people in a rush to file their tax paperwork to get refunds. But, in the rush, many times they fail to include all the necessary paperwork, requiring Uncle Sam to dig through the filings and ask for more information.
And, in many cases, people need to return some or all of that refund, while paying interest and penalties. Our job is to ensure this does not happen to TaxRevo clients; we make sure the government has as complete a package as possible to ensure smooth sailing.
So, let’s take our time. But remember that while you can seek an extension for your tax filings, you still owe any due tax by April 18. So, if you think you owe money for 2015, talk to us about sending in estimated taxes by the deadline.
For those who don't pay on time, New Jersey can assess penalties of up to 25 percent. And who wants that?
